Little Homeless Clown

Sign on the door read
enter at your own risk.
Too many times now betrayed
by the Judas kiss.

Baby rode by
in a brand new pickup truck.
She waved goodbye,
blew me a kiss for luck.

So I been out rambling
shambling
through the trailer park 'til dawn.
She was frozen in the hall
like headlines on a fawn.

Give me another run
before the sun goes down.
Give me another hit
my little... homeless clown.

All alone in this
big old house again.
Harranged by all my
so-called friends.

Too late now
she's riding with the wind.
Just last week
she said she'd stick by me to the end.

Ain't no crystal ball
but I can
feel it in the back of my bones.
She got a sugar daddy
never coming home.

Give me another run
before the sun goes down.
Give me another hit
my little.. homeless clown.

I could tell she was lonely, it just wasn't for me,
She's got a little hankering to be a divorcee.

Give me another run
before the sun goes down.
Give me another hit
my little... homeless clown.

More discussion of "Little Homeless Clown", for archival purposes, and
comment, if anyone is interested:

Gary Frankfurth: I thought it was the narc chick with the extremely
fierce dog in her car, that was sleeping on the kitchen floor. Back
when a few homeless clowns did a rotation on that floor. But who can
discredit The Dockery about what's inarguably his?

Will Dockery: That's part of the point, the Little Homeless Clown is,
how you say, an /amagamation/ of women I've known. The person some
people say is the LHC would be a great actress to play her in the
movie, wearing a blonde wig and Daisy Dukes. The details there, and
others from the days you mention, and then the actual plot, which
happened in 1985... and was brought vividly and concisely into my
memory by certain other events, all came together to create this
character, Little Homeless Clown. Look here, it is kind of like this,
kind of like how it was with, say Dr. Who, James Bond, or Batman...
no, make that Catwoman. There was a LHC back in 1985, and if she's
comparable to Julie Newmar, then this modern person who we all know
and love is Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman. I trust that clears the
story of who Little Homeless Clown is up?

Gary Frankfurth: Well that's about ambiguous enough, yet precise
enough to warrant a simple overlay match search of Muscogee County's
'85 and '09 censuses. Whoever is missing in both is LHC. ta da!!

"I lean more toward Democritus' view that poetry is 'traced to the poet's
invocation with the Muse' than Pindar's view that 'poetry is an acquired
skill.' My problem is that I don't know where my Muse is half the time. It's
like being married to... someone who says she's going to the store, then
disappears for days only to return with no explanation, then wanders off
again..." -Seaborn Jones

I meant that the crap you think you "write," "compose" or whatever word you
use to try to justify your literary crimes against humanity is so bad that
they've actually outlawed your posts at Camp X-ray.

More archival material, my thoughts on publicity and fame... or the
lack of both causing the lack of both:

The question:

What happened to the Ossahatchee Oyster bar?

My response:

Hope they haven't closed already, a great looking venue in an area
with great possibilities for growth, in fact, that's one of the few
directions Shadowville /can/ grow, with Phenix City & Fort Benning
blocking the south & west areas.

What happened, they're just closed down?

[...]

Perhaps some kind Patron of the Arts will buy the place and let us
give it a try to turn things around again. Lack of promotion and buzz
will kill anything that's even close at hand, and certainly something
off the beaten path. Argue all you like, but I believe with all my
heart that publcity is the key.

"Spell my name right." -Keith Richards

[...]

Of course it takes "more" than publicity. But the idea of putting on a
show and just expecting people to know about it through some psychic
ability, or desire to get up seek out these events, is even more
futile.

Now, it seems people /will/ get out, and even pay $10 at the door for
something that catches their brainwashing by the media... a good ...
Read Moreexample was the night "Michael Jackson" was in Ladonia. As
much as they pretend to hate publicity & endless commercials, they do
suck it up and they /do/ what they're told, and "like" what they
percieve everybody else as liking. Like it or not, publicity is very
important in these Modern Times. As our mutual hero sang 40 years ago
and is more true than ever:

"Advertising signs that con you into thinking you're the one, that can
do what's never been done, that can win what's never been won,
meantime life outside goes on all around you..."

[...]

Exactly. One of the places not many people think about, but I learned
from my heavy-duty shilling for Parnello's Pizza, is hotels. There's a
spot in almost every hotel for flyers of all kinds, usually in the
lobby, and mainly stocked by pizzajoints and Chinese delivery. This is
a perfect place to place flyers for music-art-whatever events,
where ... Read Morefolks passing through town and perhaps looking for
something to do could be made aware of what's up. When I had the open
mic at Rhino's, I made sure that these places got my flyers, and one
of the most interesting moments of that short-lived era was when three
middle-eastern guys training at Benning saw the flyer, grabbed their
instruments and caught a cab down to perform. That's just an example
of what I mean... if they know about it and don't show, okay. But if
you don't even bother to get the idea to them, then you're just
tilting at windmills.

[...]

In the context of what I'm saying, the Lookalike Michael Jackson /is/
a good example:

"As much as they pretend to hate publicity & endless commercials, they
do suck it up and they /do/ what they're told, and "like" what they
percieve everybody else as liking. Like it or not, publicity is very
important in these Modern Times..."

The television ... Read Morewarped cattle have been ingrained that
"Michael Jackson" is good, even a lip-synching imitator, while
original live music by local folks, is not. Or not worth paying for,
or even coming to see for free, it seems.
